How to wear leggings!

I LOVE LEGGINGS! :)
They are easy and comfortable and you can wear them with just about anything. Here are some tips to make them work for you:

1: Buy a variety of leggings to change the look of your clothes. You can find them today in black, colors, textures and patterns.

2: Choose black leggings to wear with long sweaters and dresses.

3: Add some color to a black dress or top with brightly-colored leggings.

4: Make a short skirt work in the fall or winter with leggings in a coordinating color.

5: Look leaner by matching your leggings with your clothes.

6: Update a classic or conservative dress with leggings to give it more of an edge.

7: Add a long cardigan with leggings and a fitted shirt for the comfort of a sweat suit but with a much higher style quota.

8: Realize you can wear leggings as an alternative to pants or substitute them for tights. Use your imagination to make them work with your wardrobe and your lifestyle.

To be honest, I've never bought leggings in Trinidad :( I've bought all more or less from forever21.com, their leggings are of excellent quality and they are not see through like the common leggings you would find, so your underwear will never print through! They retail for about $4US or so which I think is more than reasonable.
If anyone has bought really good leggings here in Trinidad, comment below and tell us where you got them and how much they were :)

How to pick the perfect mascara!

When you stand at the makeup counter or aisle, it can be confusing. Should you get lengthening, curling, thickening or non-smudging? And what, just what, is the difference between each of these anyway? (Is there a difference, or are these mascara types all hype, designed to get you to buy more than one type?)

So what does it all mean?

Lengthening mascara

Lengthening mascaras have dense bristles that allow you to get more mascara on your lashes and especially on the tips

Thickening mascara

When you want bulk, you do want to buy the mascaras touted as "thickening." These products contain a thicker formula of waxes and silicone polymers that coat lashes and make them appear bulkier.

Waterproof mascara

Obviously these "non-smudging" mascaras contain special synthetic formulas meant to repel moisture. But these can be harsh on your lashes (to prevent breaking lashes, you can put Vaseline on them before you go to sleep)

Non-clumping mascara

These contain ingredients like silk extract and glycerin. The applicators also have longer wands which allow for a more even application.

Now that you know what they all mean, go ahead and choose what's right for you :)

How to apply bronzer

Bronzer is a great staple for any beauty bag. It can make your skin look sun-kissed even when it's protected with sunscreen. It can also wake up tired, pasty skin. Here are some tried-and-true tips for proper application.

The Must-Hit Spots for Bronzer

Bronzer looks best when applied lightly to all the spots where the sun naturally shines (the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin).

Don't Go Too Dark

Most companies sell light, medium and dark bronzers. Choose a shade that's no more than two shades darker than your skin. I once made the mistake of buying bronzer that came in a quad of four colors. The darkest was WAY too dark for my skin. Copper shades are nice on olive skin tones, while darker shades are perfect for dark skin. Avoid orange shades, which can look unnatural.

How to Choose the Right Bronzer

Powder-based bronzer is best for oily or normal skin. Use a short, fluffy blush brush to apply, but first blow excess bronzer off brush before application or you risk going overboard with color. Cream- or gel-based bronzers work best for dry skin. Apply with finger or a sponge. As with most cream-based beauty products, it's important to blend well into skin or you risk looking like a clown.

Don't Forget Blush

Bronzer alone can appear dull. For a dewy look, apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. The combination of bronzer and cream blush is absolutely gorgeous.

Bronzer is great when you don't want to wear any foundation but still want to have glowing skin :)
You can get Bronzers starting at just $10TT from Wonderful World (yes i know i shop there a lot!)

Home-made Cucumber Honey Toner!

 Great for cleansing your skin!

What you would need:
  • 1 medium Cucumber, peeled and cut up into pieces
  • 2 tsp. Honey

Puree cucumber in a blender. Line a sieve with cheesecloth and set the sieve over a glass bowl or measuring cup. Pour the cucumber puree through the sieve and let it stand for 15 minutes for the juices to drip into the bowl. Pour the clear juice into a clean bottle and add honey.
To use, shake the bottle and saturate a cotton pad with the lotion. Sweep over face, neck and chest morning and night, and let it air dry (about 3 to 4 minutes). Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Makes about 1/2 cup.

Thanks to www.honey.com for this great recipe!

Jordana Eyeshadow Primer Review

I normally wear eyeshadow primer as a base for my eyeshadow and Jordana has a really good one for about $12TT at Wonderful World. This I think is an extremely reasonable price and it works very well. I use this for work during the week a lot. It is a beige colour with a pink undertone. I cannot remember if it came in different shades.

Sacha has one that I use for going out as well. I paid about $35TT for it at the Sacha store and my eyeshadow remains vibrant and lasts all day (or night!) as well.

But if you want a pretty decent quality one, that works well, then try the Jordana and let me know how it works for you.

Book i'm currently reading..

Ok so anyone that knows me know that i'm a sucker for a romance novel. I can't help it! Maybe its the hopeless romantic in me but I cannot stop reading these things.
I think it's actually better to read before bed instead of watching tv because it helps you fall asleep faster- but that's just me :)
Harlequin romance actually had this book for free download and so I downloaded it. Read the synopsis and if you want your own copy, check this link  http://www.everyonesreading.com/

Summary
In one unforgettable night, Jefferson King, movie mogul, had made Maura Donohue pregnant. Worse, he’d been avoiding her phone calls. Naturally he’d give the expectant mother a wedding worthy of a King’s bride. But Maura wouldn’t marry without love....

Sigh! Typical! Sounds like a lifetime movie LOL
I'll give my review in the comments below when i'm done.

How to wear a scarf head band!

This look was inspired by Nicole Richie!

Put your hair in a temporary ponytail, leaving a few pieces down on the sides of your head to go under the tie. Then take a square scarf, hold two opposite corners and roll the ends to form a long skinny hair tie. Place the middle of this tie at the crown of your head (where you would normally place a plastic headband) and tie a tight knot at the back of your neck. Then let your hair out of the ponytail and you are ready to go.

Fashion Tips for short women!

Here are some great fashion tips if you're not supermodel tall but still want the look!

Lengthen the line of your body with monochromatic colors.

If you wear a different color on top as opposed to the bottom, you tend to cut your body in half visually which makes you appear shorter. This is particularly true if one color is light and the other dark. Instead try wearing a monochromatic outfit in a single shade of shirt and pants or shirt and skirt. This creates a long, lean line that adds the illusion of height to your figure.

Wear dark colors.

Dark colors, particularly if monochromatic, add the illusion of height. A black top and slim black pants with carefully chosen accessories and moderate to high heels in black gives a long, lean sophisticated line that's perfect for a variety of occasions. Dark colors also make you look slimmer which is an added bonus.

Avoid shorter, flared pants and Capri pants.

You'll appear to be taller if you wear a pants length that covers the shoe. The popular Capri style pant can break your height and make your appear shorter. Straight pants are also more flattering than flared ones if you want to appear taller.

Wear higher waisted pants and skirts for maximum height.

High waisted pants can add the illusion of height and greater leg length. Avoid hip pant styles if you're shorter in stature

 Choose a thinner belt.

Thick, bulky belts tend to cut the length of your body. Opt for a thinner belt, if you wear one at all. Also avoid belts in a color that contrasts with the shade of your outfit or one that has too much detailing.

 Choose your shoe wisely.

You don't need to wear stiletto heels everyday just because you're short. A more comfortable shoe with a moderate heel and matching hose that blends with your outfit

Thanks to Kristie Leong M.D. for this article!

I thought this was really helpful as i'm only 5 3" :) I hope it helps you out too.

Garnier Fructis Style Review! - Survivor Glue!

I had to review this product because it is a favourite of mine (as all things I write about on this blog :p)
I have really fine, curly hair and it tends to get really frizzy. I've been trying lots of things to keep it under control. The Frizz Ease was either too greasy (liquid) or too stiff(mousse) and left my hair feeling really hard and straw like.

When I flat ironed my hair, even tho I used the Sunsilk daring Volume Cream AND the Olive Oil Spray, my hair would still tend to frizz as soon as I get out into the humidity that is Trinidad.
So last weekend I went to Pennywise Grand Bazaar and asked one of the attendants to help me choose something that would help keep my hair under control and neat when i flat ironed it so i can slick it into a neat ponytail and not worry about flyaways or those white dusty looking flakes that you get from hair gel or mousse.

That was when she recommended THIS and I love it. I tried it this week and I've been walking along the street with the hot sun and the wind, driving with my glass down and my hair is still as neat as it was when I left home that morning. The don't call it the "tough it out glue" for nothing! The best part is, my hair is still soft and its shiny without looking greasy and NO WHITE DUST! You can even comb your hair through after and it won't be stiff and all you need is just a little bit.

So if you're a Gel/Mousse fan and you want something that won't leave your hair stiff or hard looking, then definitely try this Creme. It retails for $34.95TT in Pennywise.

Let me know what you think if you do try it.

I'm gonna wash my hair and see if it keeps my curls and i'll let you know how that turns out :) It should look like Keri Russell in Felicity (*crosses fingers*) except not as long :p

Lunch today!

Chicken Alfredo

This is what i'm going to make for lunch today! You may think it looks pretty complicated, but its actually very very easy to make and i'm going to tell you how :)

Alfredo Sauce:

  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, for garnish
To prepare alfredo sauce: Heat heavy cream over low-medium heat in a deep saute pan. Add butter and whisk gently to melt. Sprinkle in cheese and stir to incorporate. Season with freshly cracked black pepper. In a large stockpot, cook pasta in plenty of boiling salted water for 3 minutes. Quickly drain the pasta and add it to the saute pan, gently toss the noodles to coat in the alfredo. Transfer pasta to a warm serving bowl. Top with more grated cheese and chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

The Chicken

  • 3 skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 Tbs olive oil
  • 2 tsp crushed garlic (optional for sauteing chicken)

While the Fettucine is cooking you can prepare the chicken breasts.Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and saute the chicken and garlic until the chicken juice runs clear and the chicken is done.
Once the Alfredo sauce is done, stir in the cooked chicken and then add the cooked pasta to the Alfredo and chicken.

Serve immediately!

Waxing questions answered!

For those of you who are pretty skeptical about it, here are some FAQs answered just for you! Thanks to Spa Diva for the answers!

Will it make my hair grow back thicker? Absolutely not. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as course.

Will waxing change the pigmentation of my skin? No, it will not cause hyperpigmentation (dark spots) on your skin, however, if you spend time in the sun after waxing, you can burn, which can result in sun damage and dark spots later on. If your skin is tan or you've applied sunless tanner, it will strip your tan. Remember, waxing will exfoliate your skin. The wax sticks to your skin and removes the topmost layer so you may experience some lightening if you have a dark tan from sun or sunless tanning products.

Will I get ingrown hairs? It's possible. Waxing removes the entire hair, root and all, from the follicle. Your skin naturally hardens and thickens over the area it was waxed so it is important to keep that area gently exfoliated. Use a gentle scrub in that area about 3 days after waxing and continue to exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week thereafter. Remember, I said gentle! Also, use a mixture of tea tree and lavender oil. Both are antimicrobial and antibacterial and will prevent irritation. Try to wear loose fitting clothes for a few days after to give your skin a chance to breathe and reduce moisture. The bikini, lip and underarms are where we tend to perspire. Perspiration and moisture cause bacteria to grow. Once that area has been waxed, the follicle is wide open to this bacteria creeping in.

So how do you prevent this? Again, a combination of tea tree oil and lavender oil blend will help to prevent breakouts as well as keeping the area exfoliated.

Is it painful? Depending on your level of sensitivity and how course your hair is. If your hair is course then the root of the hair will be thick. Pulling a thick hair out from it's cozy follicle isn't going to be comfortable. For most, it's not as bad as they imagined.

Will my skin become red and irritated?
Some people show no signs of irritation, others look as if they have contracted a horrible skin disease. Again, it depends on your sensitivity and if the root of your hair is particularly large. It is normal to turn red and for the skin to develop small, red bumps everywhere. This is only temporary and usually only lasts for 24 hours.

How long does my hair have to be? Many places say 1/8th of an inch but I prefer 1/4 of an inch for better, longer lasting results.

Can I wax myself? Of course! But I don't recommend it for the first time. My advice is to see an esthetician a few times and watch her. Take notes and ask questions. I don't recommend attempting your own bikini wax or underarm wax. Why? Because you will need to pull the skin taut to avoid bruising or removing skin and it is much easier with 2 people. Lip, chin, toes and legs are much easier to wax. I've had many people come to me with waxing *incidents* such as too much wax applied or attempting their own bikini and unable to follow through. So read and follow the directions carefully!

A few suggestions:
Take an advil about 30 minutes prior to waxing to help reduce swelling and pain.
Take a small bottle of grapeseed oil to remove excess wax. Most spas have an after wax lotion that they apply but I've worked in many spas that have a mineral oil base in their wax removal oils. Mineral oil will clog pores which will cause breakouts.

Try to relax! Close your eyes and take deep breaths. Because when you tense up, believe it or not, your follicles constrict as well, causing some resistance.
Remember that just prior to menstruation or during menstruation, you are the most sensitive so you may want to avoid waxing then.

If you are pregnant this can also cause sensitivity so do take precaution.
It is normal for those who have course hair to bleed, so don't worry if it happens. It's quite normal.

I hope this helps alleviate your fears!(if you had any).
I've been doing it a while now and I can't go back, its definitely worth it in the long run :)

If you live or work in the West/POS area and need a great waxing place(or spa place in general), try L'Image Parfaite Day Spa on Mucurapo road, right above KleenRite(Sp?) Dry Cleaners. That's next to the gas station. That's where I go and they are fantastic! The ambiance is so soothing and the staff is extremely friendly. Shout out to my girl Glenda! (ask for Glenda she's the best ). The prices are extremely reasonable as well!

Getting Rid of those under eye circles

I don't personally suffer from this as I love to sleep :D
But if you are like my little sister that studies 20 out of the 24 hours in the day, then you definitely need to read these tips!

1. GET ENOUGH SLEEP!
Make sure you get at least 7 hours every night and take some time every week to do something relaxing   just for you.

2. TREAT YOUR ALLERGIES!
Identifying and treating your allergies can help prevent under eye circles.

3 USE AN UNDER EYE CREAM WITH VITAMIN K AND RETINOL
Dark circles can be caused by a vitamin deficiency. Applying such a cream overnight is an effective way of treating under eye circles.

4. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS REGULARLY!
Like I said above, this under eye circles can be caused by a vitamin deficiency so make sure you're taking your multivitamin every day.

5. STAY HYDRATED!
If you're not getting enough fluids, or your sodium and alcohol intake is out of proportion to the amount of water you drink each day, you could be dehydrated. This can cause those dark circles and eye puffiness. Be sure to drink your 8 glasses of water everyday.

You know, it would be so much easier to drink those 8 glasses of water everyday if it didn't make you have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes!

Why is yogurt good for you?

Yogurt is a popular natural beauty ingredient for the skin and offers cleansing as well as moisturizing properties. Plain yogurt aids in a healthy face and body, and purchasing "live" yogurt is ideal for acne prone skin because it contains enzymes that kill bacteria.
  1. Age Spots

    • Try making a cream for the skin by combining two ounces of plain yogurt, two tablespoons of honey, the juice from one lime and the juice from one lemon. Spread over the face, neck and chest once a week for 20 minutes to lighten age spots.

    Acne

    • To heal acne, make a facial mask by mixing together two tablespoons of yogurt and one egg white. Smooth over the face until dry, about 15 to 20 minutes, and rinse.

    Sunburn

    • For sunburn relief, apply plain yogurt to skin for twenty minutes before showering. Always keep plain yogurt handy when going on beach vacations.

    Skin Balance

    • Plain yogurt is mildly acidic and perfect to restore skin's natural balance. Apply plain yogurt to the face for 15 minutes to revive skin's natural glow.

    Rough Hands

    • Yogurt mixed with a teaspoon of vitamin E oil is a perfect hand-softening mask. After rubbing the ingredients into the hands, cover with cotton gloves for an hour and rinse with mild soap and warm water.

Handbag Organizer!

I am obsessed with handbags! I can go barefeet any day but I cannot live without my handbag.
If you change bags as often as I do, then you definitely need one of these.
I recently bought one for my mom and I, to try out and ladies they work! I love it! Without it, I would never even want to change bags because it was too much of a hassle. But now, I can change bags very easily.

I bought mine at Blue Star Drugs in Movietowne (thats upstairs next to Bradford) and I paid $125TT for a box of 2 (Small and Large). They come in two colours as well: Tan and Black. Of course I bought the black one :)

If anyone knows anywhere else that has these or uses it themselves, comment below and tell us about it!

Five Foods that will harm your sleep!

Most people barely get enough sleep as it is, and so it’s super important that you don’t hurt your chances by eating things that inhibit your ability to get a good night’s rest.

Here are five foods compiled by Care 2 to avoid eating before you go to bed:

1. Preserved and smoked meats
“Slap your hand away when it reaches to make a ham sandwich as an evening snack. Ham, bacon, sausages, and smoked meats contain high levels of the amino acid tyramine, which triggers the brain to release norepinephrine, a brain stimulant that makes us feel alert and wired.”

2. Chocolate
“Love an evening cup of cocoa? That sundae in front of the TV? Be careful of chocolate in all its disguises. Many people are increasingly sensitive to caffeine as they get older, and even the little chocolate chunks in chocolate chip ice cream could zap you just enough to prevent ZZZZs. Chocolate also contains tyrosine, a stimulating amino acid.”

3. Energy drinks
“Red Bull and other energy drinks are high in caffeine as well as the amino acid taurine, which boosts alertness and adrenaline. Recent studies have shown that even if you drink energy drinks early in the day, the combined high dosage of taurine and caffeine can make it hard to sleep, or to sleep well, later on.”

4. Tomato sauce, chili, pizza, and spicy foods
“Digestive disturbances are a common source of sleep problems, but many people fail to make the connection. Acidic and spicy foods can cause reflux, heartburn, and other symptoms that interrupt sleep.”

5. The nightcap
“A drink or two may make you feel more relaxed after dinner, but it comes back to haunt you — literally — a few hours later, by preventing you from achieving deep sleep. And because alcohol both dehydrates you and makes you have to pee, it wakes you up, too. Wine is high in the stimulant tyrosine as well.”

Bet ya didn't know that huh? But that's all my favourite stuff :(

How to wear the nautical trend!

The nautical trend is making a comeback! But how do you go about wearing it without making you look like you're actually in the navy?  Try these simple steps to look like you've just stepped off the runway!
-Try a jacket or blazer with gold metal buttons, blue and white striped shoes, a striped blazer paired with navy skirt or white shorts, a gold necklace with an anchor charm or striped belts as new ways to incorporate nautical pieces into your style routine.

- Pair classic navy and white stripes with red or yellow accessories for a twist

 - Consider classics: walking shorts, jean jackets in white or indigo, oxford shirts, polo knits, wide-leg pants and even white cotton and eyelet

- Be careful when wearing stripes however as Stripes across your chest can enhance it, but the same goes for stripes across your hips! Instead layer the stripes so you only see it peeking out from underneath a cardigan or jacket.
- A brown leather belt with a striped dress gives it a bit of an earthy organic feel

I personally LOVE this style.
What do you think about it? Love it or hate it?

Oatmeal Mask for Acne!

Seriously? Who woulda thunkit!
So i've been flipping through magazines, I get seventeen, teen vogue etc, and I came across this beauty tip that I thought was pretty awesome!
Apparently, an oatmeal face mask is perfect for oil removal if you've got really oily or acne prone skin.

Here is how you do it:
- Combine 3/4 cup of oatmeal with half cup of water and cook for a few minutes.
The mixture will begin to thicken. After about 5-8 mins set it to cool. Put a quarter cup of honey and mix well into a paste. tada! You now have your face mask!

By applying this mask to your face, excessive oil is absorbed from your pores. The roughness also helps take away dead skin cells and somehow exfoliates the skin. If you are wondering what the role of honey is, it is only added to make the mixture pasty. The stickiness of honey makes the oatmeal mask for acne adhering to the skin.

Be careful when you are applying near your eyes though, because the oatmeal may cause irritation. To avoid this, try putting a used tea bag over each eye.

After you have applied the mask, leave it on for about 15-20 mins, but don't overdo it as the oatmeal will harden as it dries and stick to your skin! Wash off thoroughly and pat your face dry.

Remember, there is no need to go out an buy all these expensive skin care products when most of the ingredients you already have at home :)

Good luck!

Sleep Cycle App for your phone!

If you are like me and you need to get those 8 hours of sleep every night in order to feel human again the next day, then this app is great for you. In fact, this app works great for just about anyone wanting to get a decent nights' sleep.

How it works you ask?
Well! Sleep Cycle uses your iPhone's accelerometer to monitor your movements during the night and determine when you're most likely in and out of a dream state. Before you go to bed, set the app's alarm clock, then place your iPhone on the corner of your bed (putting it under the fitted sheet will keep it from sliding around). If you're worried about accidentally dialing someone in the middle of the night, you can put your phone in Airplane Mode—just don't lock it, or the app will turn off.

As you move around during the night, Sleep Cycle records your activity and, over the course of two or three nights, gradually learns your sleep patterns. Beginning about 30 minutes before your alarm is set to go off, the app begins watching for the lightest portions of your sleep cycle and gently prods you awake with your choice of soothing preset sounds.

I've been using this app for months now and it WORKS! Instead of being jolted out of a deep sleep in the morning, I am now gradually roused awake by the sound of a river flowing(how soothing!). You can choose from a number of naturalistic sounds.

This app is available for the iPhone and Android, not sure if Blackberry has this app(HA!).
Anyone else tried this app out? Lemme know how it works for you!

How to beat the flu! No Meds Required!

Mushrooms!

Amazing fact that I came across!
Chills, aches, fever- once the flu takes hold, it can knock you down for days! But research has found that if you add extra mushrooms(like on pizza), you may boost your body's natural defenses against the nastiest flus!

Good thing I love eating mushrooms! :)

Do you like mushrooms?

My favourite foundation!

At least of right now! Its the CoverGirl Aquasmooth Foundation! My colour is honey and lemme tell you how great this foundation is! It goes on so smooth and the coverage is fantastic! It isn't heavy as MAC foundation and it isn't as light as the CoverGirl Liquid foundation (which I use for work mostly). My skin looks completely flawless whenever I wear this and the best part is that I notice that Covergirl foundations match my skin PERFECTLY. You can't even tell that i'm wearing foundation. I absolutely love it!

I didn't buy it here in Trinidad, I actually bought it for $6US in CVS in the US but I think the price is pretty comparable down here. If anyone knows the price of this here and where it's being sold (i'm pretty sure superpharm has it), let us know!

Comment below and let me know what your favourite foundation is and why!

Love jeans? Then here are some great tips!

Who doesn't love jeans? Especially when they fit great! Its a closet staple. But are we taking good care of them? Here are some great tips on buying and keeping your favourite item of clothing in great shape.

1. Consider buying one size smaller. Jeans can stretch 10 percent after moderate wear, so when trying them on, be sure they hug your body.

2. Buy two pairs. If you find a style you love, buy one and have it hemmed to wear with flats and keep the other long to wear with heels

 3. Choose a zipper over a button fly. It gives a cleaner, smoother look--no bunching

4. Always wash in cold water. Warm water can cause shrinkage. (Turn them inside out to prevent fading.)

 5. Skip fabric softener. It can break down the dye, leading to color loss.

6. Air-dry your jeans. Heat can shrink the fabric.

7. Dry-clean dressy jeans. This will keep the rinse darker and fresher-looking.

Who knew jeans could be ruined so easily right? They always feel so sturdy! I know I don't follow all of these tips, which is probably why I go through so many jeans every year!

Let me know if you follow these rules by commenting below! :)

Home-made Anti-Sunburn Cream!

Living in the Caribbean, the hot sun is something we have to deal with on a daily basis! And on those days where you've got to be out in the sun and forgot to put on your sun screen, don't worry, i've got a home made remedy just for you!

What you will need:
- 1 egg white beaten
-  1 teaspoon of honey
- 1/2 teaspoon of witchhazel (witchhazel is a must for every home)

Blend all the ingredients together until you get an even mixture. Smooth over your sunburn. Always remember to refrigerate the rest.

Wonderful World Haul!

Anila requested that I show you guys the make up sets/palettes that I got from WW yesterday on my friday spree!

Pic 1: Formosa metal shadows.- $6TT YES you read right $6! Aren't those colours pretty!
Pic 2: Giovi USA: -$5TT no your eyes aren't going bad. And the shimmer is very subtle in this palette. Very appropriate for work i'd say without blinding anyone with a lot of shimmer!
Pic 3: Kleancolour(one of my fav brands) 9 Palette Encore- $10TT - This is a bit more pigmented than the other two.
Pic 3: Profusion Eyeshadows- $15TT- This is an awesome deal since Profusion eyeshadows are really pigmented! Love these! I've got about 4 different versions of these already!
Pic 4: KleanColour Lengthening Mascara- $10TT- NOTE: girls, i've tried ALL kinds of mascara, Falsies by Mabelline, Revlon fabulash, Covergirl Lash Blast Volume etc and THIS mascara works the same or i'd say even better than ALL of these! I always make sure I have at least 2 of these in my make up kit or I start freaking out. I use this every single day!
Even if you're not feeling to wear makeup, wearing some mascara and lip gloss gives a really natural look without looking like you're trying too hard!

I know a lot of people don't like buying "cheap" makeup. But when I did my make up course, my tutor told me all makeup cheap or otherwise are more or less composed of the same ingredients. Some eyeshadows are just more pigmented than others. But she taught me a little trick.

If you want your eyeshadow more pigmented, either, wear primer under it or dab your brush in some water and then dab it in your eyeshadow before applying to your lid. Trust me it works. The eyeshadow stays on all day without fading. (Right now i'm wearing a HOT PINK profusion eyeshadow that I put on since 9am and its still very bright and I didn't use water!)

But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.
Do you buy "cheap" makeup or do you go for the more pricey, brand name ones? Comment below and tell us what you think

Indian trade show/fair at the Dome

Just came back from the Indian Trade show/fair at the Dome opposite Centre of Excellence and I have to give a review because it was pretty awesome! If you are like me and you go(mom drags you there) to every single one that there is, then all I have to tell you is that this is actually one of the better ones. Prices=GREAT. Clothes= gorgeous and very sparkly!
Mom and I bought 4 outfits, 2 pairs of shoes and some jewelry because the prices were so good. The clothes that are here are very different from what we've been seeing over the past year which is very refreshing. I was beginning to get bored with these trade shoes because everything was starting to look the same. You go to a prayers and there are like 3 people with the same style of outfit you're wearing. BUT no more! We have variety now!
Just letting you know that there isn't as much jewelery as there normally is, but there are clothes in abundance! They also say that the dome is supposed to be "air conditioned" but I felt like i was suffocating, the heat was that oppressive!
Admission is free and there is food on sale. So go check them out if you can stand the heat, i'm sure you won't leave with your hands empty.
Comment if you've been there and lemme know what you got!

Want Super Shiny hair? Try our Banana Hair Mask!

Not only is this really easy to do, but your hair feels and looks incredible after! Trust me, i've used this recipe a million times and had to share!
Banana is perfect for restoring vitality to hair– the fruit is filled with tons of nutrients and minerals that will leave your hair shiny, moisturized and smelling sweet!

What you would need:

Half or whole ripe banana (depending on how long your hair is)
1 tbsp olive oil or honey if you prefer

Directions:
- Mash the banana in a bowl. (I use my magic bullet and puree it so there are no clumps that get stuck in my hair)
- Warm the olive oil or honey and add it to your banana mash. Mix.
-  Apply to wet hair starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends
- Wrap your head in a warm towel and leave for 25-30 mins.
- Rinse and shampoo as usual.

Trust me, your hair will feel so soft and look super shiny!
Try it and tell me what you think!

Beauty Secret of the Month!

Last Christmas I spent with some family in New York where we got snowed in! Being a Caribbean Gal and all, the cold became my worst enemy. To make matters worse, my skin started drying out like crazy, especially my face. No matter what face cream or make up I used, my skin just felt flaky and dry until I came across this! Now I know what you're thinking. Isn't this the same cream GNC sells for like $1.99US? YES IT IS! And isn't that just fantastic? This cream is a freakin Godsend! by the time I came back to Trinidad, my face was no longer dry or splotchy(which it was a little before the trip), but a completely even toned complexion. I also noticed that it got rid of a lot of dark marks that I had on my face!
Trini Gals though, beware, GNC trinidad sells them for $29TT(~$4.49US) a jar so if you're planning on taking a trip to the US, you might want to stock up on it.
BTW I am in no way affiliated with GNC and/or their products. I just thought this was too great a find not to share!
If there is anyone out there that has tried this, please comment below and let me know how it works for you!

Who the heck am I?

Hey there!
For those of you who don't know me, I'm female (duh). I'm from Trinidad and I'm a serious shopaholic!
I love writing, been doing it ever since I can remember. I write poems, stories- fiction mostly and entire novels sometimes. I love fashion as well and I am obsessed with makeup.
I've been writing an online journal for a couple of months now and I have decided to put my thoughts into a blog instead so I can share a lot of my thoughts with you. Also, any deals I happen to come across as I shop online a lot as well :)
I hope to update daily or as frequently as I can, which shouldn't be a problem as my iphone is practically attached to my hand.
Hope you enjoy the blog and feel free to comment on anything you like. I look forward to hearing from you!
